The Circle

Uldred hadn’t heard his father’s nagging voice in his head for some days now. In fact, he hadn’t heard much of anyone at all, deeply engrossed in the books he had found at the ruined academy. He’d seen much that intrigued him on his first trip, but had been unable to bring much of anything back with him. This time, he had not been alone to face the ghosts and strange sounds in the darkness.

The dragon is doing much better. And he’s not “the dragon”, his name is Ethenaku, I have to remember that. Dragons don’t like it very much if you forget their names. He’s gone from barely being able to eat to an appetite bigger than any other dragon I’ve seen, even bigger than mothers with eggs. I guess he’s making up for all the time when he wasn’t able to, and regaining his strength. I just hope he doesn’t eat too much and be unable to fly.

 I know you’re already on your way here, and the mail here is slow so I should probably just wait and give this to you when you arrive. It’s just that writing to you makes me feel better and it’s too early to sleep just yet.

The bear gave me another book to write my thoughts in. I’m not sure if he plans to read it, I kind of hope he doesn’t because he might not like some of the things I wrote about bears. I doubt they can read Thalassian anyway. So now like the girl, I’m trapped here. I can’t leave. I guess I could — I don’t think they would physically restrain me, but I’m a danger to everyone else if I leave. Especially myself.
