Dear Diary,
Thero talked me into staying home with him the other day. It’s funny because before he was so insistent that I not miss any of my classes, but then when he got hurt, suddenly he wanted me there all day. I’m not really sure why, I barely helped him at all. I helped him get to his desk so he could work, and then I went to pick up his medicine. Arelanis could have done that, she’s done it before and the herbalist knows her. In fact, she was surprised when I came instead! His order was all ready and packaged up for him. Of course I’m sure she remembers me from when I came in for the tea, and she’ll put two and two together. I tried not to think about it too much, but I’m sure my ears were red.
It just seemed that Thero wanted me to kiss him and things. That’s not why I stayed home! I mean honestly, if you’re that hurt, you can’t be doing anything like that. The bruises are pretty nasty, but they’re just bruises and they will clear up shortly. I got him some fruit which should help with that, too. Thankfully it’s nothing too serious, but I still think he ought to speak with the hawkstrider trainer. He should never have been given such an unpredictable animal to ride.
Yesterday evening, he insisted he felt better, so I let him work while I went out to the Lounge. I’d been meaning to talk to Sath, he’s started up his nonsense about Thero not being able to take care of me again. You’re his nurse, he kept saying, is that what you want? Okay, first I don’t mind helping him and second, it’s only temporary. But I can’t stop thinking about it now, and I feel terrible about it. What if he’s right? What if Thero gets hurt again and it’s for real this time and I have to help him get out of bed and bring him food every day?
Kes was at the Lounge and she said she has an appointment at the dress shop. I wonder if I can go with her. Then Sanimir and a friend of his showed up, he was pretty arrogant I have to say. And he kept teasing poor Sanimir, it wasn’t very nice at all. At first I thought they were brothers, the way he wouldn’t let up, but they’re just friends. Maybe I should tell Sanimir he needs new friends. They apparently went to visit a place that had dragons in it, bronze dragons. I’ve never seen a dragon, and they both insisted it’s safe because bronze dragons usually aren’t dangerous. I wanted to ask Thero but… I don’t even know if he could do something like that. And I don’t dare ask to go with Sanimir. Thero would get the wrong idea. Sanimir might, too.
Of course, Kestrae said that Sath took her to one, so I guess I could go with him. But Thero showed up a little while later, and he said we could go. I should have a short break in my classes coming up when the semester changes, and maybe we could go then.
